Pingback: West Side Rag » MEMORIAL CELEBRATION FOR SYMPHONY SPACE’S ISAIAH SHEFFER SET FOR MONDAY
That’s a great story. Thank you.
Isaiah asked me to perform in the Thalia Follies, saying that I’d be a “perfect MITT ROMNEY.” Hmmm, but that’s not the story I want to share. The day before I started rehearsal, Isaiah and I stood quietly in the empty seats at Symphony Space and he described what the place looked like when he first saw it. “A bombed out leaky-roofed disaster”, he said. I asked him as one founder to another how it felt to know that he had created a magnificent place and institution. “Good,” he said, “I never thought we’d do it and I never doubted it.” I’m still scratching my head over that one.
